AFFILIATIONS Mr. Sutherland joined Maxim Engineering in November 1997. He brings to the company a broad background in engineering, safety, and production management. His experience is as follows. 1988-1997 Glamorgan Coal Corporation, Wise, Virginia. Safety and Operations Engineer for the last three years. Responsible for safety, training, and operational analysis. Chief Engineer for first six years. Duties were mine development & layout, surveying, mapping, exploration, and permitting. 1984-1988 Sandy Fork Mining Company, Beverly, Kentucky. Safety Director at this company, which operated four mines and a preparation plant. Project Engineer for the first year, evaluating a newly acquired property. 1980-1984 Held operating management positions for a several small companies in northern West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. Also did management consulting. This was all done while living in Bridgeport, West Virginia. 1977-1979 Kentucky Carbon Corporation, Phelps, Kentucky. Division Manager of a mining complex consisting of five continuous miner units, two longwall units, a preparation plant and warehouse. 1976-1977 Braztah Corporation, Helper, Utah. Mining Engineering Supervisor and Assistant Mine Superintendent. 1970-1976 Monterey Coal Company, Carlinville, Illinois. Joined this company in its infancy. Progressed from Project Engineer, Operations Planning Coordinator, Section Foreman, and Head of Mining Engineering. 1965-1969 Consolidation Coal Company, Pocahontas, Virginia. Held production jobs on both continuous miner and conventional sections. |
